To Accept Your Now Body Is To Accept Yourself

Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Diet Culture Survivor, Author, And Speaker

Healing Conversation #1195

— “Your now body is the one you accept after letting go of the socially constructed ideal body. It is the body that you accept and inhabit without judgment, and the body you allow to change as it needs to in order to sustain your life. We are not supposed to have the same body we did at 15 years old, at 23. We are not supposed to have the same body we did at 25 years old, at 42. By nature, our body is designed to change and grow. To accept your now body is to accept yourself no matter what your body looks like. By inviting acceptance into our bodily experience instead of resistance we allow nature to run its course.”
